  • Program or Website tutorials (either student or teacher created)
  • Turning a PowerPoint into a video
  • Having students show their work
  • Creating a multiple website field trip or tour
  • many, many more (solicit ideas from students)
From Wikipedia:
Screen Casting: A screencast is a digital recording of computer screen output, also known as a video screen capture, often containing audio narration. The term screencast compares with the related term screenshot; whereas screenshot is a picture of a computer screen, a screencast is essentially a movie of the changes over time that a user sees on a computer screen, enhanced with audio narration.

Here are some sites to create great screencasts. As always wiki away and add your favorite sites.

Screencast-O-Matic is the original online screen recorder for one-click recording from your browser on Windows, Mac, or Linux with no install for FREE! This one is personal favorite and the one that I use. It is very easy step by step with the ability to add text wherever you want and a recording time of up to 15 min.
Very similar to Screen-Cast o Matic, also allows for picture screen cast. Of course that is basically the same as using the "print screen" key on your ketboard. A matter of trying several of these and deciding which one you like best.
Very similar to Screen-Cast o Matic, another web based recorder that is free. A matter of trying several of these and deciding which one you like best.
Another Web-based recoder-nothing to download. Plays everywhere on the web, even iPhones. Like the others it is free, just a matter of which you like best.
